The RSPCA Devonport Animal Care Centre, is a cornerstone of animal welfare for the North West coast of Tasmania. As part of the RSPCA Tasmania network, this facility provides a safe haven for animals that have been neglected, abandoned, or surrendered.
The centre is committed to the "Five Freedoms" of animal welfare and works tirelessly to rehabilitate and rehome dogs, cats, and various pocket pets into loving permanent homes.
Services offered
- Pet Adoption: A professional rehoming program for dogs, cats, and small animals. Every animal is temperament-evaluated to ensure a successful match with new owners.
- Surrender Services: Providing a compassionate pathway for owners who can no longer care for their pets. (Note: Surrenders are by appointment only and subject to capacity).
- Veterinary Care: All animals adopted from the centre are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for parasites prior to adoption.
- Humane Education: Engaging with the local Devonport community to promote responsible pet ownership and animal empathy.
- RSPCA Inspectorate Support: Serving as a holding and rehabilitation point for animals involved in animal cruelty investigations in the region.
